Lornano - Fattoria Lornano - The reputation of the wine produced in the Chianti Classico district was established long ago and, as often occurs when a product is highly successful, numerous imitations surfaced over the years. As a result, Cosimo III, Grand Duke of Tuscany, decided in 1716 to issue an edict in which he officially recognized the boundaries of the Chianti district. The edict was the world's first legal document defining the production zone of a wine but it proved to be insufficient, since bogus Chianti continued to appear just about everywhere.
