Leaving the Grosseto coastline or Siena’s bare “clayey” land, crags and badlands behind you, depending on where you are coming from, and entering the upper Tuscan Maremma area, which has always been the green heart of Italy, the boundless plain gives way to gently rolling hills cultivated with cereal crops, interspersed here and there by luxuriant olive groves, used to make delicious extra virgin olive oil, and beautiful vineyards that produce the grapes used in the famous DOC* Montecucco wines.
