About this Vincenzo D'isanto, commerce graduate and sommeliers, never had any doubt. Just the passion for the red goblet carried him in 1977 to buy 4 hectares of land in Barberino Val d' Elsa, in the heart of the Tuscany countryside, at the boundary between the provinces of Florence and Siena
.In 1980 Vincenzo implants the first vineyard and working with the aid and the advices of Giulio Gambelli, produces a red wine IGT called I BALZINI, which takes its name from the sloping ground on which the vineyard is implanted, called in Tuscany : "balze, balzini".
The first vintage is produced in 1987. After some years, Vincenzo meets Antonella, freelance as him, interested in wine as a consumer. She knows him only from the professional point of view. It was sheer chance that an evening, at the inauguration of a restaurant, he says to her that he is the producer of the wine they are drinking. The unexpected revelation bewitches Antonella, which saw behind that man something different. She thinks that a man which produces wine must be a sensitive person, and watches him with a renewed interest. The spark ignites!
Today Antonella and Vincenzo are married. She, attracted by the magic of wine, left her job in order to take care of the winery: Their objective is to produce a great wine with a marked character, which conjugates the peculiarities of the territory, the attention and the quality, in a harmonious elegance, for a wine destined to demanding consumers.
