The estate Podere Guado al Melo is a property of 10 hectares situated on the Tuscan coast in the Municipality of Castagneto Carducci (Livorno) in the heart of DOC Bolgheri territory.
The vineyard extends for about 9 hectares at the foot of the hills, surrounded by the Mediterranean scrublands and the “Fossa di Bolgheri” stream. The area was also a place of ancient dwelling; the remains of an old Etruscan blast furnace have been found there on the summit of an Aeolian hill.
Completing the property is an olive grove and a small cherry garden. Close by is a ford (Guado al Melo), from which the winery derives it’s name. Podere Guado al Melo will also use the grapes of another 11 hectares of vines from a flat area to the west of via Bolgherese.
